CAD DESIGNER

The CAD Designer is responsible for the development of various types of CAD drawings such as overall fabrication drawings and event floor plans. The function of the CAD Designer is a vital link between conceptual design and the final product as fabricated for event use. This function also extends to the development of space plans which define how the display elements will be set up at events. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings that include dimensions and required materials from general written or verbal specifications

  • Collaborate with others to obtain reference information for drawings

  • Work with others to execute projects on time and on budget

  • Review design layouts to find and resolve problems involving compatibility with basic design concepts

  • Provide alternative design concepts to meet customer requirements

  • Serve as an information source on planning and design

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience - A minimum of three years of recent use of AutoCAD in a work environment like events. Strong skills in 2D and 3D AutoCAD. Ability to comprehend how things go together and to visualize in 3D. A degree is not required although it is a plus.

  • Methodical – Methodical approach to problem solving and producing drawings.

  • Creative – Creativity is needed for laying out a multi-page set of drawings that are clear and understandable, not just a random collection of drawings. 

  • Meticulous – The quality of the drawings will be affected by how carefully they are produced and double-checked.

  • Good communicator – Willing to leave your seat and talk with the team to obtain information. 

  • Adaptability and Perseverance – You understand that you may be required to work long hours and weekends as dictated by client deliverables. You are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done! Strong levels of perseverance are needed to push through when tough work schedules arise.
